John,
4/20 is here. Whether you celebrate or not, the harsh reality is that
America’s approach to cannabis legalization has been half-baked for years.
More than 50 years have passed since the failed and racist War on Drugs.
Today in 2024, 24 states and Washington D.C. have all legalized
recreational marijuana. A majority of Americans now live in a state with
access to marijuana.
And some of these states have gone further and granted clemency to those
with past marijuana convictions — a first step at repairing the
irreparable harm caused by the War on Drugs.
John, let us be
blunt:
+------------------------------------------------------------------------+
*We're long overdue* for real justice. No one should be arrested or
imprisoned for the responsible use of cannabis. We must legalize
marijuana in every state, federally, AND pardon those with marijuana
convictions.

Unfortunately, the War on Drugs isn’t a relic of the past. Despite
numerous attempts to vote on marijuana reform, Congress is still relying
on the same fear-mongering and BS arguments to defend its heavy-handed
approach to marijuana.
But it's not all bad news.
According to the National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws
(NORML), since 2018, state courts have either expunged or sealed the
records of more than two million marijuana-related cases.
On the federal level, President Biden took the first step toward justice
in October 2022 when he announced a proclamation pardoning most federal
offenses for simple possession charges. At the end of last year, Biden
expanded the proclamation.
Marijuana legalization without justice is half-baked,
John — and we won't stop
fighting until marijuana is legal everywhere and Americans no longer have
to bear the stigma of a marijuana-related conviction.
