We’ve launched an emergency campaign to stop these dangerous political games and protect public health — in Texas and beyond.

John— Earlier this week, women in abortion clinics throughout Texas began being turned away from receiving care because Gov. Abbott is exploiting COVID-19 to attack reproductive healthcare and force his ideology on the entire state.1

John—

URGENT: This is a rapidly developing story.

A federal court ruled yesterday that Texas may enforce an order that would effectively ban nearly all abortion care as part of the state's coronavirus lockdown order.2

By categorizing abortion care as “non-essential” during the COVID-19 pandemic, Texas Governor Greg Abbott believes he can block access to abortion statewide. And since no one knows how long this crisis will last, Texas’ order could stretch on for weeks or even months.

It’s unclear at this point exactly what will happen next. We know abortion providers in Texas are dedicated to providing care to their patients and won't stop fighting to serve their communities. But if Gov. Abbott has his way, nearly all abortion will be banned in the entire state of Texas... indefinitely.

If you can, please make a split donation of $15 to NARAL Pro-Choice America and our affiliate, NARAL Pro-Choice Texas, to help launch an emergency campaign to stop Texas' dangerous attempt to ban abortion during this pandemic and protect reproductive freedom for every body, everywhere.

Texas isn't the only state where anti-choice politicians are trying to exploit the COVID-19 pandemic in order to ban abortion.

Anti-choice politicians in Indiana, Oklahoma, Ohio, Iowa, Mississippi, Kentucky, Tennessee, and Alabama have all attempted to or expressed a desire to restrict abortion access in the last few weeks, using the COVID-19 pandemic as a smokescreen. If Texas is allowed to enforce its ban, then you can bet that anti-choice politicians across the country will be pushing to do the same.

Let's be clear: Abortion care is essential, time-sensitive healthcare for pregnant people. You can’t just “put off” an abortion, and people who need abortion care shouldn’t be singled out by anti-choice ideologues to score political points.

77% of Americans support the legal right to abortion, and the idea of using this nationwide crisis for political gain or to push an extreme ideological agenda is reckless and repugnant.

We need to act fast to stop Texas’ attempt to exploit the COVID-19 pandemic to ban abortion. Will you donate $15 to NARAL Pro-Choice America and NARAL Pro-Choice Texas?

Yes, I'll donate $15.

Thank you for all you do for reproductive freedom,
