I'm sure you've seen the news — from Texas to Ohio, extremist officials
are brazenly exploiting the COVID-19 pandemic to push their political
agenda and achieve their longtime goal of banning abortion.^1

Let me make this very clear: Reproductive freedom is for every body.
Period, full stop. And we're going to make sure that every anti-choice
official knows we will never, ever back down from protecting this
fundamental right, no matter what disinformation they try to spread.

We've got a chance right now to make sure politicians don't exploit the
COVID-19 crisis to come between you and essential, time-sensitive
healthcare — and that starts with U.S. Secretary of Health and Human
Services (HHS) Alex Azar releasing federal guidance protecting access to
abortion care during this crisis.

It’s critical that Secretary Azar hears from you because more than 50
anti-choice groups have already called on HHS to take steps to halt access
to abortion as part of the federal government’s response to the COVID-19
crisis.^2 We can’t let anti-choice extremists dominate this conversation
and exploit this crisis to restrict our reproductive freedom.

The anti-choice movement continues to weaponize disinformation to muddy
the waters as they pounce on the opportunity to further erode access to
abortion. We can’t stand by as anti-choice extremists put their personal
beliefs above our collective health and well-being.

We have to be louder. HHS needs to hear from all of us — including you,
John — to
show that we are the true majority.
