Dear friend,

Ghana is in crisis, trapped in unjust debt by greedy lenders like BlackRock. For over a year the government has been trying to get debt cancelled. But we’ve just heard their debt deal has collapsed – undermined by financial giants who are holding out for profit.

Millions of people in Ghana are being denied justice, faced with an economic crisis that has seen food and fuel prices more than double. While powerful private lenders stall debt talks by holding out for more money, it’s people in Ghana paying the price.

Will you sign the petition for a new debt justice law that would make private lenders play ball?

Did you know that 90% of the debts owed by lower income countries to banks, hedge funds and oil traders are overseen by UK law? Right now, there are 54 countries in debt crisis – a new UK law would help Ghana and other countries get debt cancelled by forcing private lenders to play ball.

As we head towards a likely election this year, we have a big opportunity to make politicians listen to our demands for debt cancellation. Will you help put cancelling debt on their agenda by signing the petition to party leaders today?

In solidarity,
