Have you filed your taxes yet, John?

This is the day that sneaks up on all of us. We start receiving our W2s in January and squirrel them away. Then, at what feels like the last minute, we file our taxes and ask the universe for a return instead of a bill. The entire process is stressful, especially if you are filing your taxes on your own.

On top of it all, major corporations — like sharks smelling blood in the water — try to swoop in and get their unearned share of your money. They try to make themselves look user-friendly, they ask a million simple questions, and they give you a progress bar to help you along. But by the end, you are paying a billion-dollar corporation's fee on top of your legally mandated taxes.

But this year is different. If you still need to file your taxes and you live in AZ, CA, FL, MA, NV, NH, NY, SD, TN, TX, WA, or WY, then you can go straight to the IRS to file for FREE.

You never need a corporation to file your taxes. But filing has always been too daunting for most of us to do it on our own. Now, thanks to the Biden administration and the legislation they fought for in Congress, this pilot program is making it even easier for you to file taxes on your own. This type of change affects the lives of folks like you and me and will make it easier for us to keep more of our hard-earned money.

This is what happens when Democrats win up and down the ballot, we make changes that matter and improve all of our lives. I ran for office because I knew change like this was possible. We only needed people who are willing to stand tall for all.

Don't forget to file your taxes by April 15th and hopefully next year we'll all be able to file our taxes for free!

Stand Tall for All,

J.D.
