John — we need to talk about the intersectionality of abortion access and Black maternal health.

Ever since the right-wing majority of the Supreme Court struck down Roe v. Wade , millions of women nationwide have lost their reproductive freedoms. State houses across the country are either trying or already have banned abortion completely.

Our nation’s maternal health crisis was already an urgent concern, and now that millions of women have lost nearly every option for reproductive health care, the crisis has only become worse.

And tragically, Black women are facing the brunt of this compounded burden. The CDC reported in 2020 that Black women are three times more likely to die from a pregnancy-related cause than white women.

If you can, please donate $10 or more to support our work toward closing the racial and ethnic disparities in maternal health outcomes.

Now, with Roe v. Wade protections gone and a critically low number of abortion providers in our country, this statistic could become even more disproportionate in the future.

Black women deserve to be valued, protected, and supported no matter what decisions they make regarding their pregnancy. This unbearable and unfair trend can only be brought to justice through community action and advocacy.

That’s why I have worked tirelessly to shed light on this problem and use my position in Congress to bring about positive change.

I helped launch the Black Maternal Health Caucus in Congress and we just secured a significant investment that will support our mothers. I also introduced the Black Maternal Health Momnibus Act which would make critical investments to improve maternal health across the nation and specifically address discriminatory dimensions of this crisis.

Now, we need your help to get this legislation passed and make a historic leap of progress for both reproductive health care and Black maternal health.

John, join our efforts to pass the entire Black Maternal Health Momnibus Act, landmark legislation that will reverse the trend of the rising Black maternal mortality rate and help save moms’ lives. Donate $10 or more >>>
