Dear John,
Immigrants are the heart of our communities, integral to NY’s cultural and economic prosperity. Yet, immigrants across the state do not feel safe, as any interactions with local law enforcement–like a police roadblock–could result in them being ripped away from their families.
More than ever, we need the New York for All Act ([link removed]) to protect our long-term and newest neighbors.
What is the New York for All Act?
The New York for All Act ([link removed]) would put an end to the state-sanctioned terrorization of our immigrant communities by broadly prohibiting state and local officers from enforcing federal immigration laws and conspiring with ICE.

More specifically, it would prohibit state and local authorities from sharing sensitive information with immigration agents, prevent ICE and CBP from entering non-public state and local property without a judicial warrant, and ensure people are given notice of their rights before being interviewed by ICE while in jail.
Why is it Important?
Right now, law enforcement can call ICE if they suspect someone is not a legal citizen, regardless of documentation explaining current status. This racial profiling has severe and permanent consequences, as detention and deportation result in family separation and breaking up communities.
The New York for All Act protects families and keeps workers in their jobs while making the whole state safer. Data shows localities that protect their communities from ICE have less crime ([link removed]) . Our tax money should be spent on ensuring our communities thrive, NOT to fuel cruel anti-immigrant agendas.
