If there's one thing you read today: None of the major TV news networks aired the entirety of President Trump's press conference on the coronavirus (COVID-19) response yesterday. But you can always watch it for yourself livestreamed on the White House's social media accounts or on the White House's website at WhiteHouse.gov/live. Today's briefing is at 5pm Eastern, and updates are usually continued over the weekend too.

Now here's the news you'll want to know this Friday.

Trump campaign donating meals to first responders without any fanfare.

"...the Trump reelection campaign has been quietly donating meals to first responders, doctors, and nurses at a dozen hospitals in New York, New Jersey, Washington state, and Michigan. The Trump campaign issued no press release on their activities. Fox News heard about it from the restaurants themselves, who are also being helped by the so far tens of thousands of dollars in meal purchases." [Read the full story from Lifezette.]

A month ago, President Trump donated his $100,000 quarterly salary to the federal government's coronavirus relief efforts.

Now his campaign is quietly donating meals to the hard-working, courageous staff of hospitals in hard-hit states. They didn't issue any press releases or ask for thanks; it's only been made public after, as Lifezette reported, Fox News heard from local restaurants.

This is what real leadership looks like: doing the right thing for the American people without fanfare. And Americans coming together to help and support one another in this uncertain time is exactly what we need!

The left can't re-write history: President Trump has taken coronavirus (COVID-19) seriously.

"Dr. Anthony Fauci said in an interview released Thursday that President Donald Trump took the coronavirus threat seriously 'from the beginning' of the pandemic. 'I think he always understood the seriousness of it. Right now, as the numbers are becoming crystal clear, he himself is articulating an awareness of that seriousness,' Fauci said in an interview on 'The Daily,' a New York Times podcast." [Read the full story from the Daily Signal.]

Some on the left are trying to play politics and blame the Trump Administration for the national challenges we face in response to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. But you'll remember that President Trump took early, decisive action in response to coronavirus -- and was criticized by some liberals for his travel ban!

And Dr. Fauci, an American hero for the work he's done on the coronavirus response, confirmed in an interview this week that President Trump "took the coronavirus threat seriously 'from the beginning," as the Daily Signal reported.

A lot of questions remain.

"U.S. intelligence believes that China does conceal the extent of the outbreak known to higher-level Communist Party officials. However, because of inaccurate reporting of cases at local levels of government, the C.I.A. and other agencies have themselves been unable to determine the full scope of coronavirus cases in China." [Read the full story from the National Review.]

As you'll remember, earlier this week, Dr. Birx had said that the initial U.S. response to coronavirus was based on early reports from China -- reports that turned out to share only partial or incorrect information about the scope of the pandemic.

When full information came from hard-hit countries like Italy and Spain, the government changed course and increased its response.

Still, the issue with data from China about coronavirus continues. Now even the U.S. intelligence community is uncertain of how severe the problem is in China ... and there may be questions from inside the country too.

The Democratic National Convention will be pushed back to late summer due to coronavirus.

"The convention will now take place the weekend of August 17, just before the Republican National Convention, which is traditionally held the last weekend in August." [Read the full story from the Daily Wire.]

As we shared on Wednesday, Joe Biden had said it would be "hard to envision" the traditional Democratic convention taking place as scheduled in mid-July. We thought it might be delayed.

Turns out that's the case: the Democratic National Convention has been moved to late August, a week before the Republicans meet. It will still be in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

It's hard to predict what this will mean for the Democratic primary. Election coverage isn't in the headlines as Americans (rightly!) focus on our shared national challenges, and social distancing guidelines and stay-at-home orders make traditional campaigning impossible.

As we've said, the only guarantee is we'll see even more change in upcoming weeks ... and we'll be here to bring you the top stories about the 2020 election that you'll want to know.

We continue to wish for the health and safety of you, your family, and your community at this uncertain time. Stay safe and have a wonderful weekend!
