The Seattle New Liberals are leading an open letter to Seattle Mayor Bruce Harrell demanding a revised comprehensive plan after the city put forward a less-than-ideal plan last month that would severely limit the city’s ability to build more housing.

The NYC New Liberals officially joined the Yes to Housing Coalition, which is a coalition of 100+ organizations in NYC demanding a thoughtful and comprehensive reform agenda to help address New York City’s housing crisis.

The Huntsville New Liberals canvassed for Marilyn Lands who won the Alabama House District 10 Special Election, flipping a Republican-held district that Trump won in 2020.

The Bay Area New Liberals put out a statement on the San Francisco Board of Supervisors voting to repeal the veto for Supervisor Aaron Peskin’s anti-housing ordinance.

After months of working with a broad coalition to oppose an attempt to move the Capitals and Wizards arena from D.C. to Potomac Yard in Virginia using taxpayer money, the D.C. New Liberals found success after Alexandria Mayor Justin Wilson ended his efforts in support of relocating the arena. Read their statement here.

Cap Action | Trump's Tariff Would Cost the Typical American Household Roughly $1,500 Each Year

This great piece from Brendan Duke at the Center for American Progress takes a look at recent proposals from former President Trump, who is calling for a 10% tariff on all imported goods if he is re-elected. Duke’s analysis of this proposal finds that it would increase costs for American families across the board. Protectionist policies that inhibit the free flow of goods will only be bad for voters, and we can only hope that voters reject Trump and his extreme ideas in November. This interesting piece from The Economist takes a look at a comparison of Japanese and American economies, and the changes they’ve undergone in recent years. After years of protectionist policies that slowed growth in Japan to a halt, they’ve recently begun to open up, while at the same time, America is doing the reverse, by employing protectionism in the name of protecting workers, and adopting industrial policies that defined Japan’s stagnant economy.
NPR | What's at Stake in the Supreme Court Mifepristone Case

This piece from NPR dives into the potential repercussions of FDA v. Alliance for Hippocratic Medicine, a Supreme Court case that could restrict access to mifepristone, a medication used for abortion. The Supreme Court’s ruling on this case could interfere with access to medication abortion, miscarriage care, and the pharmaceutical industry. We’re watching this case because a ruling to restrict access to mifepristone would not only be blatantly illiberal, it would hurt millions of women across the country, and make the abortion issue even more relevant heading into November.
