It's been another great week on the road in TX-23! Sonora ➡️ Eldorado ➡️ Ozona ➡️ Fort Stockton ➡️ Alpine ➡️ Fort Davis ➡️ Pecos ➡️ Kermit ➡️ Monahans ➡️ Crane ➡️ Rankin ➡️ Big Lake ➡️ Devine ➡️ Uvalde ➡️ Del Rio ➡️ San Antonio Was I in your neighborhood this week? Check out highlights from my meetings this week below. The future is bright in Monahans! I’m proud to have partnered with local leaders in Ward County to deliver funding for Monahans Kids Zone. This project will go a long way in improving educational opportunities in the area. Devine Fire and EMS is leading the way in training young men and women interested in the field. Through a partnership with Devine ISD, emergency personnel work with high school students to help them obtain career and technical education credits and hands-on experience. I joined Uvalde CISD Superintendent Ashley Chohlis on Thursday at the new site for Uvalde’s new elementary school. The construction is underway and is on track to be completed by the start of the 2025-2026 school year. I met with Port Director Liliana Flores at the Del Rio International Bridge on Thursday. I will always support our hardworking Customs and Border Protection personnel who work around the clock in our border communities. Stability in the Indo-Pacific region is essential to our nation’s economy and national security endeavors. This week, I introduced legislation that would require the U.S. Department of the Treasury to cease the U.S.-China Tax Treaty if China launches an armed attack on Taiwan. This legislation sends a clear message to the Chinese Communist Party—if you invade Taiwan, severe consequences will follow. I look forward to working alongside my colleagues to get this important national security legislation across the finish line. For more information on the bill, click here.
