As we commemorate World Health Day, I am reminded of the fundamental truth that health is not a privilege, but a fundamental human right. This year's theme, "My Health, My Right," underscores the importance of ensuring that everyone, everywhere has access to the resources they need to lead a healthy life.

Every American deserves quality, affordable healthcare. It means access to preventative care, comprehensive testing, and healthcare professionals who work in our communities. It means access to healthier food options, unpolluted air, and more.

Healthcare encompasses multiple elements, and today, we acknowledge that our collective efforts—whether combating climate change, negotiating better drug prices, or ensuring access to clean drinking water—contribute to fostering healthier lives for Americans.

I am proud of the progress we have made alongside the Biden administration, from lowering prescription prices and putting more money into the pockets of hardworking Americans to investing in climate change mitigation. However, we must recognize that there is still much work ahead of us.
