John, there are few things more sacred in our democracy than the right to vote. But going back only a handful of decades, that right wasn't guaranteed to everyone in America.

I want to tell you more about this, but first, I have to ask if you’ll rush $25 or any amount to send me to Congress to ensure our voting rights are protected.

My roots run deep in the Lowcountry. My family experienced the challenges of Jim Crow. In fact, my great-great-grandfather Robert Smalls had been gerrymandered out of the district he represented in Congress 150 years ago.

That's why when I saw this news, it shook me to my core. 👇🏾

Thank God we are not in the era of Jim Crow. But I have a hard time staying silent when I see news like this break. Although this doesn't change our district or race one bit, it makes me wonder: when will we elect leaders who are determined to end gerrymandering?

Fair districts shouldn't be a Republican or Democrat issue, they should be an American issue. I'm running to be a champion on this front because at the end of the day, South Carolinians deserve fair representation.

It's bad enough that SC-01 voters already had to vote under an unconstitutional map once in the 2022 midterm elections. They shouldn't have to go through this again.

If you’re with me, will you rush $25 or any amount to restore my great-great grandfather’s legacy to the Lowcountry and ensure everyone has an equal voice and vote in our democracy?
