Dear Friends,

Our country is facing a terrible health crisis. As the novel coronavirus spreads rapidly, the underlying flaws in our healthcare and economic systems are laid bare. Healthcare is a human right and should be available to every single person, regardless of wealth or work status. Paid leave should be available to every worker, and every worker deserves a fair, living wage. Healthcare workers need adequate protection as they put themselves in harm's way to care for us.

I have been championing these issues for nearly two decades. As a state legislator, I fought for fair working conditions, wages, and union protections for healthcare workers and other service workers. As Vice-Chair of the Assembly Health Committee, I worked to expand access to Badgercare and Seniorcare. As the executive director of a NARAL Pro-Choice Wisconsin, I championed reproductive justice and policies to reduce racial disparities. And throughout this, as a community leader, I have been a champion of single-payer healthcare and expanded Medicare for All to provide high-quality care for everyone, including people from marginalized groups.

This is a crowded primary, with four candidates already declared. But my record as a healthcare champion and my experience as an effective legislator is unmatched. I've been working for our progressive values, including universal healthcare and economic justice, my entire career.

Our team is wishing you and your loved ones comfort and health during this challenging time. Thank you for all you do.

Stay home and stay healthy,

Earlier our campaign sent an email which mistakenly stated that I was the first to declare my candidacy after Sen. Risser's retirement; in fact there were three other candidates who were already challenging him in a primary. I sincerely apologize to them and to you for the error and look forward to a spirited primary.
