WTF are the FEC and EOQ? Hey John –

The first time I ran for office, it was like I was back in Army basic training – there's a lot of slang to learn. In the Army, it was things like FOBs and OERs. In campaigns, it was FOs and GOTV.

Well, here are 2 important campaign acronyms we're talking about a lot right now: FEC and EOQ.

FEC is the Federal Election Commission. They enforce campaign laws. And every quarter, we have to file a campaign finance report with them on how much we've raised and spent. They then publish them for everyone – including you! – to see. (I think it's actually a pretty cool part of our elections.)

EOQ is end-of-quarter. It's the big fundraising period that happens before each FEC reporting deadline. March is our first end-of-quarter in 2024 AND our last one before our primary in April.

We've only got 2 days left in this EOQ before we have to file our first FEC report of 2024. So I'm asking you to pitch in $10 or more ASAP.

Thanks for being in this fight with me as my co-pilot,

P.S. If you want to know what all those other acronyms are…

  • FOB = Forward Operating Base, a type of military base close to the front line
  • OER = Officer Evaluation Report, I got one every year as an Army officer
  • FO = Field Organizer, the staff who recruit and organize volunteers to turn out voters
  • GOTV = Get Out The Vote, the 6-8 weeks before Election Day when campaigns call + text + knock on your door to remind you to vote

Make sure we can GOTV before our primary election in April by donating before EOQ is over!
