Friend —

I only have a moment, but I wanted to drop you a quick note on the frustrating news we just got out of Tallahassee.

Nearly a million bipartisan Floridians signed on to put abortion rights on the ballot in Florida this November. In February, right-wing activists sued to keep it off the ballot, and the DeSantis-appointed Florida Supreme Court heard oral arguments. The deadline for them to decide is April 1, but they drop decisions on Thursdays. Everyone expected to have a decision today, but at the last second the Florida Supreme Court made the unprecedented choice to hold the ruling until Monday, April 1.

It’s no secret what is happening here. The ballot initiative language is clear. It’s constitutional. And an overwhelming majority of Floridians support abortion rights. Extremists on the court are playing political games by running out the clock on a decision that WILL impact the lives of women in Florida.

Abortion deserves to be on the ballot, and it still may be. But either way, right-wing extremists in Tallahassee KNOW that we are going to vote like hell to protect our rights and defeat every single extremist lawmaker, from Tallahassee to DC, who has tried to strip them away.

Listen, today makes one thing completely clear: Rick Scott and his extreme allies know they’re on the wrong side of history, and the only way they will win is if they play political games and throw money at the problem. We can’t let them. I need you in this fight with me.

Thank you for standing up for our reproductive rights. Together, we WILL win this fight.

Onwards,

Debbie
