For decades, my district was a reliably Democratic seat. But in 2022, everything changed.

I was named a Frontline congressional candidate, FiveThirtyEight said mine was the most competitive House race in Georgia, and I was in one of the toughest races of my entire career in office.

Over the years, Georgia Republicans have redistricted my seat, they continue to pass voter suppression laws to restrict access to the ballot box, and national Republicans have and will continue to flood our state with dark money — all in an attempt to erase the Democratic progress we’ve made here in Georgia.

Since taking back the House in 2022, Republicans feel emboldened, and they’re going to do everything they can to hold on to their slim majority. I’ve been targeted by them before, and we’ve got to be ready to hold them off, defeat an opponent, and defend this district.
