[1]Alex Padilla for Senate

Hey, I wanted to reach out and personally share this message from Martin Heinrich in New Mexico. Like me, Martin’s the child of an immigrant and one of only a few fellow engineers in the Senate — it would be a real blow for New Mexico and our chances of a Democratic majority if we lost this seat to a Republican hedge fund executive.

Thanks for chipping in today if you can afford to do so. — Alex.

I won’t beat around the bush: Our first public fundraising deadline since my multimillionaire challenger entered the race is less than a week away, and my finance director just told me we’re not on track to meet our goal.

Can Alex Padilla and I count on your split contribution while we still have time to catch up? If even just 1 in 3 folks reading this email pitches in before midnight, we’ll be in a strong position to reach our goal:

Here’s the reality of the situation: Mitch McConnell handpicked my hedge fund executive opponent because she can self-fund. She even wrote a $500,000 check to her campaign to kick things off.

This is a strategy National Republicans are leaning on in key Senate races this year because they think these self-funded campaigns will run themselves. We need to show them their line of thinking couldn’t be further from the truth.

My opponent has avoided interviews and taking a stance on the issues that matter most to New Mexicans. She thinks she can just stay silent and coast to victory.

But everything is on the line this year — from protecting our reproductive freedoms to cutting costs to delivering on sensible gun reform

New Mexico deserves leaders who are ready to get to work and act like our democracy, our rights, and our climate depend on it — because they do.

I refuse to stay silent on the issues that matter. I will keep leading these tough fights in the Senate, but I’m counting on your support to stay there. Will you split a donation between Alex Padilla and my campaign before midnight to help us catch up on our goal and get one huge step closer to winning this fall?

Thank you for your belief in a New Mexico that works for everyone, not just the ultra-wealthy.

— Martin
