Dear Patriot,

As a retired Green Beret and Gold Star husband, I know only too well the pain of losing a loved one for no good reason.

Today, I want to tell you about Washington State Patrol Trooper Christopher Gadd.

Gadd was born in Pasco, Washington on September 28, 1996. He graduated from Kentlake High School in 2015, then went to Green River College and Tacoma Community College, earning his EMT certification.

Gadd then began working as a cadet with the Washington State Police in 2021, transferring in 2022 to train to become part of the 116th Trooper Basic Training class. Being a trooper was part of his blood, as his father is a WSP trooper, and his sister is also a trooper in Texas. Gadd quickly rose to the top of his class and graduated in November 2022, earning a top academic award recognizing cadets who attain the highest GPA over 30 exams and quizzes.

He was a husband and a father of a two-year-old. His life was barely beginning.

And on March 2 of this year, Gadd was killed at the age of 27 on the side of I-5 in Marysville just before 3 a.m. when an illegal immigrant allegedly crashed into his patrol vehicle.

According to court documents, this illegal, Raul Benitez-Santana, smoked "a bowl of Marijuana" earlier that night and had a glass of beer.

Benitez-Santana is a citizen of Mexico and illegally entered the U.S. at an unknown time, but his criminal history in the U.S. dates back to 2013 when he was convicted of driving with a suspended license.

That's right - this illegal was in America for over ELEVEN YEARS without the consequence of deportation while he continued to rack up a criminal history!

This is because Washington State has sanctuary status, thus protecting an illegal alien who went on to kill upstanding citizens of society like Trooper Gadd.

This is unconscionable, and something has to be done. Protecting Washington residents from violent crimes perpetrated by illegals is one of the things I feel called to do, and I will keep working to push back on our sanctuary status.

Illegals need to be deported, not allowed to stay in our state and harm us!
