Celebrating Community, Charity, and Compassion on Eid-ul-Adha
Eid Ul Adha, the festival of sacrifice, is one of two major annual Islamic holidays. It commemorates the completion of the Hajj (annual pilgrimage to Mecca) and is considered to be one of the holiest festivals for Muslims around the world. The Hajj and celebration of Eid-ul-Adha commemorate the submission to the will of God and is rooted in the story of Prophet Ibraheem (Abraham), and his ultimate submission to God when he was asked to sacrifice his most favorite son. However, after exhibiting his love and surrender to his Creator by agreeing to sacrifice his son, Ibraheem and his son were presented with a sacrificial animal instead. This story of piety, love, family, and sacrifice lives on in the rituals replicated during the Hajj by millions of pilgrims.

As a symbolic ritual, Muslims sacrifice an animal (typically goat/sheep) to honor the story of Prophet Ibraheem (A.) and are required to share the meat with their friends, family, and those in need.

MCN wishes all of our community members, families, and friends a happy Eid-ul-Adha celebration and we hope you will celebrate with us by considering a gift to one of our programs aimed at strengthening the Muslim community.

We are deeply grateful for your support!
