Last month was the ninth consecutive hottest month on record, ever.1 The climate crisis is here, and the culprit is the fossil fuel industry. But they are not alone – utility companies are also responsible.
Utility companies control the energy that goes into our homes. But instead of supporting the renewable energy transition we need, they helped create a system that made us reliant on fossil fuels. And they are using the profits from our utility bills to continue investing in fossil fuels and grow their political power to block the transition to renewable energy.
This is why we are launching a campaign targeting utility companies across the United States.
We believe that our campaign targeting utility companies will draw an undeniable link between climate justice and economic well-being — countering the fossil fuel industry’s narrative that coal, oil, and gas are the only path to economic development.
