Tax professionals

The Minnesota Department of Revenue has reopened the online filing system for Form M1PR, Homestead Credit Refund (for Homeowners) and Renter?s Property Tax Refund.

Your clients can again use our free system to electronically file if they meet requirements.

Note: Only clients should use this system to file Form M1PR. If you need to file a client?s Form M1PR, use your tax software.

What changed?

To use our system, clients must provide their:

  • Full name
  • Social Security Number or Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN)
  • Federal adjusted gross income (FAGI) from a 2023 or 2022 Minnesota income tax or property tax refund return

Clients may contact you for their FAGI amount to enter.

What if my client has not previously filed a Minnesota return?

They will not be able to use our filing system this year. They may use it next year once we have a 2023 Minnesota return on file.

Where can I find more information?

See our Homeowner?s Homestead Credit Refund and Filing for a Property Tax Refund pages.
