In their Ahead of Print article, Kara Zivin of the University of Michigan and coauthors examine nationwide trends in perinatal mood and anxiety disorder (PMAD) diagnoses among privately insured people between 2008–20.

They determine that during this period, diagnoses increased by 93.3 percent, with people in all age, race/ethnicity, and geographic categories experiencing growth between the pre- and post-ACA era.

Black people saw the largest increase (55 percent) during the study period.
