Home prices are climbing across the country, making purchasing a home even more difficult for first-time buyers. It’s only getting harder for young people — the average age of first-time buyers spiked to a record-high of 36 in 2022.

That’s why Martin introduced the First-Time Homebuyer Tax Credit Act to ensure working families aren’t shut out of the American dream of owning a house.

This bill will set up a refundable tax credit for first-time homebuyers worth up to 10 percent of the purchasing price and give homebuyers the opportunity to get the credit at the time of purchase with support from their mortgage issuer.
