Dear Friend,
The tragic events in Israel and Gaza since Oct. 7 have deeply affected all of us here in the United States and around the world.
On March 20, the AFT is hosting a conversation about the situation in the Middle East with leaders of Standing Together, a grass-roots group of Jews and Palestinians who are fighting for peace, security, justice and self-determination.
You can watch the event live on our website starting at 4 p.m. EDT here.
I’m looking forward to being a part of the program, which will be moderated by civil rights leader Eric Ward of the organization Race Forward. I will also be joined by Sally Abed and Alon-Lee Green from Standing Together, Amy Spitalnick from the Jewish Council for Public Affairs and Daily Beast columnist Wajahat Ali.
Please join us virtually on Wednesday, March 20, 4-5:30 p.m., to hear from folks in our community who are mobilizing for an immediate cease-fire and a sustainable pathway to peace in the region.
The AFT is committed to advancing democracy, peace, security and freedom; to having the imagination to find a better way out of this horrible catastrophe in Gaza, Israel and the West Bank; and to fostering conversations with civil society. This event aims to do that. I hope you will join us.
Tune in live via our website on Wednesday, March 20.
In unity,
Randi Weingarten
