Dear John,
Please join us tonight at 7pm for our 2024 Women's History Month program entitled, "First in Flight: Women Breaking Barriers in North Carolina Politics." In the spirit of our organization's namesake, Lillian Exum Clement (the first woman elected to the North Carolina General Assembly), we are thrilled to celebrate women who have shattered glass ceilings in politics. This program is the perfect opportunity to learn more about the lived experiences of women who are trailblazers in our communities and the North Carolina political landscape.
Sign up here! Joining us will be: - Rep. Ya Liu, one of the first AAPI women elected to the NC General Assembly and the first AAPI woman to serve on the Cary Town Council.
- Councilwoman Jackie McLean, the first African-American woman elected to the Raeford City Council.
-
Rep. Maria Cervania, the first AAPI woman elected to the Wake County Commission and one of the first two AAPI women elected the NGGA.
- Our moderator will be Congresswoman Deborah Ross.
We're excited to hear from these barrier-breaking women who have displayed a strong commitment to making our communities and state a better place for all!
In solidarity, Sarah Preston Executive Director |
