Hur on the Hill  

Special Counsel Robert Hur’s report found ample evidence that President Biden had mishandled classified documents, which is a crime. However, the Special Counsel declined to charge the President because he is an “elderly man with a poor memory.”

This past week, Special Counsel Hur testified before Congress, where I questioned him on some of the discrepancies within his report: 

We have a hyper-partisan DOJ with a dual standard of justice. You don’t have to look any further than the differences between how Presidents Biden and Trump are being treated during their respective Special Counsel investigations. We must restore the rule of law and end this politicization of the Justice Department.  

Standing for the First Amendment 

This past week, the House voted on legislation to force divestment of companies controlled by a hostile foreign adversary, including TikTok.  

I don’t use TikTok, and I would advise against doing so, especially for government officials. 

However, the bill was drafted in such a way that it opened the door to infringing on Americans’ First Amendment right in ways that would be irresponsible to ignore. After a careful, lengthy review, I voted against the legislation.

The Week in Weaponized Government 

After Biden allowed Laken Riley’s murderer to roam free in our homeland, and in the wake of multiple other heinous crimes committed by illegal immigrants, the House voted this week on a resolution denouncing Biden’s lawless immigration policies. 

I proudly voted for the resolution, while the vast majority of the Democrats voted to support these destructive policies. I will not vote to fund one more day of the current Biden border crisis. Shameful. 

In more weaponized government news -- last weekend, the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Agency (CISA), the chief architect of DHS’s censorship schemes, announced they had been hacked. 

This Congress, I convened the first Congressional hearings on DHS’s Censorship Laundering Schemes, which emanated from CISA and the agency’s brain trust.

I also introduced the Censorship Accountability Act, which we anticipate will receive a vote on the House floor this Congress, that will give Americans the tools to hold these wretched censorious bureaucrats accountable.

To make matters worse, the President’s new budget requests $103 million more for CISA next year. Rest assured, I will not be voting for anything to give these bureaucrats more power to violate the First Amendment.
