John,
When Rep. Ken Buck announced his resignation effective next Friday, it was clear that he had put Lauren Boebert in a truly difficult position. Now, she has to choose between resigning her current seat immediately to run in the special election to replace Buck in District 4.
But doing so was no guarantee that Boebert would be selected by her party as the special election nominee. In fact, all signs pointed to her NOT being selected, as her "low moral character" (the words of CD4 voters, not ours) and carpetbagging won her no allies.
The New York Times reports that now "instead of running in the special election in Mr. Buck’s district, [Boebert] will keep her focus on winning a crowded Republican primary for the seat, which will be held on the same day."
