Last week, Donald Trump cemented his position as the GOP presumptive nominee when Nikki Haley officially suspended her presidential campaign.  

It’s a sad reminder that Trump and his brand of divisive, extremist politics have dominated one of our country’s two major political parties for nearly a decade. 

Another sad fact? The Virginia GOP has completely fallen in line with Trump. 

From Governor Glenn Youngkin to members of our Congressional delegation to the MAGA U.S. Senate candidates vying to defeat me — it’s raining Trump endorsements here in VA.

Now, with CNN reporting that the Trump campaign sees Virginia as “very crucial” to their general election strategy, it’s clear that all eyes will be on our Commonwealth come November. 

Put another way: The battle for battleground Virginia starts now. 

That’s why I’ve asked my team to increase our March fundraising goal. It’s going to take serious resources to compete with the influx of GOP spending that’s going to hit Virginia.

The fact is, the money we raise in March or April is actually more valuable than money that’s raised in September or October, close to the election. Early resources help us build a bigger and stronger voter outreach machine — meaning what we do NOW will determine how much we can maximize Democratic turnout in November. 

Virginians deserve so much better than what the GOP is offering — so please, help me send a message that our Commonwealth won’t fall back.
