A new report by the Government Accountability Office (GAO) commissioned by my Protecting Moms Who Served Act reveals a deeply concerning trend: The rate of severe pregnancy complications among veterans has nearly doubled over the past nine years. These mothers and veterans, who bravely served our country, are facing a critical health crisis, and we can't wait any longer to help them.

I’ve just officially called on Congress to pass my Momnibus Act . Our mothers and veterans deserve better and lives are at stake. I need everyone on this team to stand with me at this moment. My Momnibus Act has evidence-based solutions that directly address the issues revealed in the GAO report. These solutions will improve data collection and oversight of mental health screenings for veterans during pregnancy and to monitor severe maternal morbidity. The goal is to tackle the racial and ethnic disparities in health outcomes.

The first bill from the Momnibus package was signed into law, the Protecting Moms Who Served Act , is already making a difference. But this crisis demands more action. That’s why I am asking for support to amplify my call for the passage of the entire Momnibus Act — my comprehensive and bold package of legislation tackles the maternal health crisis head-on.
