Matt Dolan Earns “Rock Solid” Endorsement from Former Ohio U.S. Senator Rob Portman.

• On Friday, Senator Rob and Jane Portman formally announced their endorsement of Republican Matt Dolan’s bid for U.S. Senate in Ohio.
  
  
• State and national media outlets, along with pundits and GOP leaders from across Ohio highlighted the significance of Portman’s “game-changing” endorsement:
  
  
• The Associated Press: Republican Matt Dolan has landed former US Sen. Rob Portman’s endorsement in Ohio’s Senate primary.“Republican Matt Dolan has landed the endorsement of former U.S. Sen. Rob Portman in the fractious three-way primary to take on Democratic U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown this fall, a potentially important boost in the final run-up to the contest. In a letter addressed to fellow Ohioans, the Cincinnati Republican and his wife, Jane, said they decided that Dolan’s ‘conservative record of accomplishment and his commitment to continue to focus on achieving results in the U.S. Senate set him apart from his rivals.”

Rob Portman is backing Matt Dolan in Ohio’s Republican U.S. Senate primary, a nod that could boost Dolan’s profile in the final days of the race. In a letter to Ohioans, Portman and his wife, Jane Portman, cast Dolan as a problem-solver who is best equipped to tackle the economy, border security and other issues in Washington.”
  
  
• The Dayton Daily News: Republican U.S. Senate candidate Matt Dolan announces Portman endorsement and campaigns in Dayton, Butler County. “Former U.S. Sen. Rob Portman today endorsed state Sen. Matt Dolan, R-Chagrin Falls, in the race for U.S. Senate as Dolan brings his campaign to the Dayton and Butler County region today and Saturday.”
  
  
• The Hill: Portman endorses Dolan in Ohio Senate GOP primary. “Former Sen. Rob Portman (R-Ohio) and Jane Portman endorsed state Sen.   • Hannah Thomas of WLWT said Portman’s “reputation and popularity in SW Ohio could help boost the Dolan campaign in the last 11 days before the primary.
    
    
  • Conservative syndicated radio host Hugh Hewitt called it an “interesting development,” further stating “I expect Dolan to spend heavily featuring the very popular Portman in the closing sprint in this close three-way race.”

Ted Diadiun: Matt Dolan is “Best Chance” to Defeat Sherrod Brown.

• In case you missed it, Cleveland Plain Dealer editorial board member Ted Diadiun dedicated his Sunday column to articulating the case for Matt Dolan’s U.S. Senate candidacy. Not only did Diadiun note that Dolan is best prepared to serve as Ohio’s next U.S. Senator, he also indicated that nominating Frank LaRose or Bernie Moreno represent would make it harder for Republicans to defeat Sherrod Brown in November.
