Four years ago today, the World Health Organization declared COVID-19 a pandemic, officially marking an era of uncertainty, struggle, and a public health crisis worldwide. Millions of Americans were unemployed, struggling with hunger, unable to afford rent, and we have seen over 100 million COVID-19 cases and 1 million deaths.

All of this made it abundantly clear: The government had a duty to respond and help the American people recover. So three years ago today, with President Biden at the helm, Democrats passed the American Rescue Plan.

The ARP created a national vaccination plan, made necessary investments in schools and healthcare, delivered financial assistance to working families, extended and expanded unemployment insurance, provided support to small businesses, and helped state and local governments protect essential workers.

As part of the ARP, Georgia received billions of dollars to help us recover from the pandemic. Here’s just a snapshot of some of the funding:
