Lauren Underwood For Congress

John,

Three years ago today, President Biden signed the historic American Rescue Plan (ARP) into law, bringing much-needed relief to millions of Americans during the pandemic.

Lauren’s landmark legislation, the Health Care Affordability Act, was part of the ARP, further cementing her position as an advocate and leader for health care in Congress. She helped ensure that no American would pay more than 8.5% of their income on health coverage.

When Democrats held the House majority, we accomplished legislative wins that made life better for all Americans. But when the GOP took control of the House in 2022, the chaos party did what they do best: prioritized the rich and privileged and left working families behind.

It took no time for House Republicans to roll back the progress we made, creating devastating impacts for millions, including reversing the record-low rate of child poverty Democrats helped foster.

By letting the Child Tax Credit expire — a cornerstone of the American Rescue Plan that cut child poverty nearly in half and brought particular relief to Black, brown, and Indigenous children —  Republicans caused a record rise in poverty, more than doubling child poverty rates.

While the GOP sows chaos and division, families across the country suffer the dire consequences. Democrats must take charge. We have to hand the House majority back to adults in the room — but we can’t do it without grassroots support.

Leaders like Lauren are laser-focused on continuing to bring relief to American families. Can you chip in to support her work and help us take back the House?
