Hi Friend,
Just one year ago, the thought of running for President hadn’t crossed my mind. I was focused on raising the alarm about President Biden’s eroding support and encouraging the best positioned Democrats to enter the race to defeat Donald Trump.
Little did I know that none would heed that call and that by the end of October we would be taking a bold leap together. And together, we embarked on a mission of principle fueled by the conviction that democracy dies without competition.
I want to personally thank you — every single person who donated, volunteered, attended an event, promoted me on social media, or told a friend to vote. This was an unprecedented mission for an unprecedented moment and I couldn’t be more grateful for your support. It was an honor and privilege to have represented you during this campaign.
However, after assessing Tuesday’s election results, resourcing needs, and polling data, I made the decision to suspend my campaign and endorse President Biden - behind whom we must coalesce to protect our country and ensure decency and integrity remain in the White House. For my part, I’ll continue to make sure everyone’s invited.
While it is the end of this campaign, it also marks the beginning of another. Important and existential work awaits all who aspire to the restoration of the American brand, the redistribution of opportunity, the reinvigoration of participation, and the revitalization of optimism. So please stay tuned for steps we can take together to ensure a promising future for the American Dream and democracy.
