HB 174 passed the General Assembly with bipartisan support

Equality Virginia

Dear Friend,

On February 19th, the Senate passed House Bill 174, and it now sits on Governor Youngkin's desk. HB 174 would ensure that the Commonwealth can not deny the issuance of a marriage license on the basis of sex, gender, or race, which the current laws do not guarantee. It’s important that all Virginia couples have access to marriage.

Governor Youngkin has until 11:59 pm on Friday March 8th to sign the bill. As a strong supporter of marriage equality, we hope you'll take two minutes to send an email asking him to sign the bill into law before Friday's deadline. Urge Governor Youngkin to protect marriage equality!

With gratitude,

Narissa Rahaman Executive Director Equality Virginia
