The Families First Coronavirus Response Act of 2020 required states to provide continuous coverage to all Medicaid enrollees at the height of the pandemic.

In their new article in the March issue of Health Affairs, Sarah Gordon of the Department of Health and Human Services and Boston University and coauthors explore the effects of Medicaid’s continuous enrollment provision on postpartum coverage.

The researchers find that continuous coverage provisions led to an increase in twelve months of continuous postpartum Medicaid enrollment, with Latino and White non-Latino beneficiaries experiencing the largest gains.

Next week, A Health Podyssey will feature an in-depth conversation discussing this study's findings between Editor-in-Chief Alan Weil and author Sarah Gordon.
