John, When I was a young Midshipman, I saw a sign over door that read “You will not eat, sleep, sit down, rest, or relax until your men have had a chance to do so themselves” That was the motto by which I led and lived my life as an Officer. It’s about putting service over self and taking care of your team.
It’s a lesson most members of the Senate could benefit from.
Today, it seems like most politicians put themselves first in everything they do. They’re more concerned about where their next donor check is coming from than what’s best for the country.
That’s why I don’t like to think of myself as a politician.
