Dear John,
My deepest thanks to those of you who responded so positively to my announcement that I’m unsuspending my campaign.

I know many of you are asked questions about this campaign, even faced with challenging rebuttals to your interest. I’d like to take on one of those arguments head on: “But she’s not qualified!”
First of all, here's what the Founders had to say about it: according to the Constitution, the President must have been born here, must be 35 years or older, and must have lived here for 14 years.
And it’s also important to note what the Constitution does not say. It does not say the person has to have been a Congressman, Senator, or Governor. It does not say the person has to be a lawyer. In other words, the Founders were leaving it up to every generation to decide for itself what skill set we think makes a person most qualified to lead us through the challenges of a particular time in history.
In my opinion, I’m not less qualified but rather more qualified than other people running. Why? Because I have a grasp of how this moment fits into the larger arc of American history and the lessons that that teaches us. I understand the economic anxiety millions of Americans are feeling today, based on years of up close and personal experience with frustrations over lack of health care, education, job opportunities and more. Having seen so many problems up close, I've gained an understanding of what is needed to solve them.
President Franklin Roosevelt said the most important job of the President “is not administrative, but moral leadership.” America has lost its moral commitment to the well-being of our people and planet, to peace, and to the notion of equality itself. We need a President who can help us retrieve America’s commitment to the heart of things, and I feel I bring strong qualifications for that job based on over forty years of experience.
And not being part of the corrupted machine of DC politics, I have more clarity how much it desperately needs to change.

I have spent time in DC — in fact, I live there now. I have been in rooms where some of the most important decisions are made. I’ve witnessed how politicians “make the sausage,” so to speak. Believe me, I’m not impressed by the argument that you “have to be one of them.”
We don’t need another technocrat in Washington; we need a visionary. And while I may not be the greatest visionary in America today, I’m the only one running for the Democratic nomination for President. The problem is not that we don’t have enough political car mechanics; the problem is we’re on the wrong road.
I’m glad to be in this race right now, and I know there’s something more important going on here than meets the eye.
We are continuing to provide the American people with an option for an Economic Bill of Rights, a transition from a war economy to a peace economy, and from a dirty economy to a clean economy. We are standing for a ceasefire now, an end to the War on Drugs, and repudiation of a forever war machine. In other words, we’re offering a powerful vision of hope and possibility for millions of Americans at a time when hopelessness is everywhere. That is how we will defeat Donald Trump, and how we will begin to repair America.
I believe that this campaign matters, and it means so much to me that you think so too. Many states have early voting. I hope you will make your voice heard by voting for me.
Please support the effort generously, so we can make the most of this extraordinary opportunity.
