Team, I wanted to keep you updated on how we in Congress are working to help those impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.

We have already passed two coronavirus relief bills to provide immediate resources to families and workers and the third legislative package just passed the House.

House Democrats are putting families and workers first. Folks, the truth is that Mitch McConnell wanted to put corporations first. But we held the line and the bill includes:

$1.25 billion in aid for Rhode Island
$250 billion in direct payments to workers and their families
$367 billion for small businesses
$130 billion for hospitals
4 months of full pay for the average laid-off worker
The bill does not include a $500 million slush fund that only Donald Trump oversees - this was an absolute non-starter with a President that always puts himself and his personal business interests above those of the American people. We know he'd end up bailing out the hotel industry to boost his bottom line before American families saw a single dime.

My colleagues and I in the House are working around the clock to put together legislation that takes responsibility for the health, wages, and well-being of America's workers - not corporate interests. We will always put American families first.
