The worst part about running for Congress is — without a doubt — the obscene amount of money it takes to build a successful campaign.

We all know that there is far, far too much money in our political system. But I also know that in order for our movement to be successful and win, we have to have the resources required to stay competitive.

That's especially true when the right wing and their super PACs target a campaign as directly as they do ours. They're preparing to spend unlimited sums of dark money on everything from bigoted ads to propping up my opponents to try and defeat us.

Meanwhile, we're doing things the right way — together. That means I'm counting on lots and lots of people making lots and lots of small contributions to win this race.

So I have to ask. We're facing an important monthly fundraising deadline at midnight tonight, and I'm hoping you can make your first contribution to stand with me before it ends.

What do you say?

Please add a contribution — $3 or any amount that works for you — before tonight's deadline. This campaign is funded by lots of people giving small amounts at a time, so every dollar makes a difference.

Your support, often coming directly from emails like this one, is what allows us to fund our campaign like this.

It's what allows me to dedicate my time to fighting for policies that help working people, supporting my constituents, and organizing to build power for our progressive movement nationwide.

That is something I will never take for granted. Thank you for everything.

In solidarity,

Ilhan Omar
