John, in a moment, I’m going to ask you to pitch in to my campaign to defend the Senate majority. But first, I hope you’ll give me a chance to explain why your support — especially today — is so important.

But if you’re ready to donate, please do so now, before tomorrow’s February fundraising deadline.

So much is riding on this November’s election.

The United States has always strived to be a country that lives up to the ideals of its founding — not always fulfilling them, but always in pursuit of building a more perfect union.

How else to explain the contradictions inherent in this struggle to build a more just, loving country?

We are a country that elected Barack Obama and Donald Trump, our first Black president and the leading conspiracy theorist driving the racist lie that he was born elsewhere, in consecutive elections.

We are a country that struggled for and passed the Voting Rights Act of 1965, only to witness a new era of voter suppression after the Supreme Court struck sections of it down in 2013’s Shelby County v. Holder.

This journey that can oftentimes feel like three steps forward, two steps back, is why I haven’t stopped counting on your support for all of these years.

If this election feels like a tipping point, it is — that’s why we cannot become complacent for one instant and risk allowing Donald Trump back in the White House, or Republicans back in the Senate majority.

I cannot miss my February fundraising goal if we’re going to remain on track to defend our Senate majority and the White House. Can you chip in $3 before midnight?

If you've saved your payment information with ActBlue Express, your donation will go through immediately:

The outcome of this election may well shape the course of the United States for the next century. The moral arc of the universe may be long, but it does ultimately bend toward justice — and your support is helping to bend it, one small contribution at a time.

Thank you.

With love and gratitude,

Cory
