Gun Violence Prevention Advocate,

Ghost guns – fully-functioning, untraceable firearms that can be quickly assembled from a kit, and can be bought without a background check – are wreaking havoc on our communities. Recently, Delaware County was rocked by the killing and injury of two teens using a ghost gun.[1] It has to stop.

And the good news: we're making real progress in our effort to ban ghost guns. In a moment, I'm going to ask you to donate today to keep the progress going. But first, just look at this momentum:

In the weeks since we mobilized our grassroots network to contact their State Representatives, we've added 12 new legislative co-sponsors on the bill that would treat ghost gun kits as regular firearms under the law. [2] Every new co-sponsor helps move the bill closer to a House floor vote.

And just the other week, we notched a major legal win, with the Pennsylvania Commonwealth Court upholding the City of Philadelphia's right to enforce its local ghost gun ban, despite a challenge by gun extremists. [3]

The tide is turning on ghost guns, but this progress can easily lose steam if we don't keep up the pressure. Can you make a contribution today to help power our ghost gun work?

Last month, the Pennsylvania House Judiciary Committee advanced a bill to treat ghost gun kits as firearms under the law. [4] That means a background check. It means serial numbers to help law enforcement trace crime guns. That bill – along with a package of legislation we've helped craft to address the plague of crime guns fueling violence across PA – is awaiting a vote on the full House floor.

We hear all the time from lawmakers who oppose gun safety that we should focus on violent criminals. Well that's exactly what this legislation does. There's no reason why anyone would want an untraceable gun that can be purchased without a background check, except to use it in a crime.

So we're forcing legislators to make a choice: will they stand with Pennsylvanians who want to live free from gun violence, or will they stay in the pocket of ghost gun manufacturers who are making millions off of preventable death and suffering? Please donate today to help sustain and grow this life-saving work: [link removed].

Thank You,
Adam
