Their Arlington showroom had selected Doorways to be their #ABWGives Charity for winter 2023. Their team did an incredible job fundraising for us - and eclipsed their record for giving! Bartaco Huge thanks to our delightful new neighbor Bartaco for bringing our team a delicious spread of "welcome tacos"! Doorways' staff enjoyed the meal in Lila's Café, a special space in our new admin offices that is dedicated to Lila Reinold, who has been part of our team for nearly 40 years. In the News Q&A: Why are more survivors seeking shelter at Doorways? "Domestic violence has increased in both frequency and severity. As the only provider of emergency shelter for survivors in imminent danger – called safehousing – Doorways has been at the front lines responding to the growing need for safehousing. We are responding to survivors' needs by reinventing ourselves. With our community's support, we are increasing, improving, and transforming the way we serve survivors, including expanding our safehousing capacity." Wade underscores the need for policies addressing teen dating violence, experts say." Overall, a third of women in America and a quarter of men report suffering severe violence from intimate partners. I also understand that these numbers have been rising in recent years.
