Dear  john ,

From cherry blossoms to school field trips, my office is here to assist you when you visit our nation’s capital. Visit my website for more information on how we can help you with tours and tickets for your upcoming trips.

Standing for the Rule of Law

Last Friday, I spoke on a panel at CPAC about fighting against the leftist lawfare that wreaking havoc on our nation. It was a pleasure to meet some of you who traveled to Washington for the conference.

I joined Stephen Miller, the founder of America First Legal Foundation, Ken Paxton, the Attorney General of Texas, and Mike Davis, the founder and President of the Article III Project on this panel discussion.

When leftists abuse, circumvent, and undermine the law, they must face the consequences. I’m fighting every day in Congress to preserve the integrity of the rule of law, which underpins the very foundation of our Constitutional Republic.

The Swamp’s Spending Binge

I have long been a proponent of considering government spending based on an individual, program-by-program, line-by-line basis, not rolled into one massive omnibus bill. As you may remember, these monstrous bills contain nearly every imaginable wasteful provision under the sun and feed the federal leviathan that makes life harder for everyday Americans.

Getting back to reviewing the merits of each program is common sense, but for Swamp creatures in Washington, it’s bad for their personal interests. The rotten status quo benefits the uniparty. This week, they will be angling to pass yet another “Continuing resolution,” which extends the Biden-Pelosi spending agenda.

I, along, with my House Freedom Caucus colleagues, am pushing for sanity and policies that help, not hurt, North Carolinians. This situation is highly fluid, and I will keep you updated via social media and this newsletter.

The Week in Weaponized Government

Biden’s border crisis continues unabated, and we see the deadly consequences every day.

We are now seeing more Chinese nationals illegally crossing our Southern border than Mexican nationals. Any rival nation would be foolish to not send agents across the wide-open border. This is a national security threat of the highest order, yet leftists are more than happy to continue abusing our borders to achieve their own insane political goals.

I joined a letter with my colleagues demanding answers from the Federal Aviation Administration regarding its policy of housing illegal immigrants classified as “potential terrorists” at airports across the country. It reads like a bad satire headline, but unfortunately, it’s reality.

Illegal immigration continues to destroy America’s great cities, aided and abetted by their lawless liberal mayors.

And if the Deep State Censors in our government had their way, you wouldn’t even be able to talk on social media about the problems. This Thursday, my Censorship Accountability Act will be marked up in the House Judiciary Committee – it’s a vital tool to protect the First Amendment.

Art Competition

Each spring, the Congressional Institute sponsors a nationwide high school visual art competition to recognize and encourage artistic talent nationwide and in each congressional district. Since the Artistic Discovery competition began in 1982, more than 650,000 high school students have participated. Students submit entries to their representative’s office, and each Congressman selects a winner. Winners are recognized both in our district and at an annual awards ceremony in Washington, DC. The winning works are displayed for one year at the U.S. Capitol.

Artwork submissions are due to one of our district offices by April 12, 2024.
