Fertility treatments freeze after Alabama Supreme Court's embryo ruling – AXIOS

John, the Alabama Supreme Court ruled that frozen embryos should receive legal protections as "unborn life" — leaving fertility clinics and individuals seeking treatment vulnerable to lawsuits and even criminal prosecution.

Now, the University of Alabama at Birmingham, the nation’s 8th largest hospital, has paused IVF treatments, citing "the potential that our patients and our physicians could be prosecuted criminally or face punitive damages for following the standard of care."

Every person in America deserves the privacy to make their own reproductive health care choices — but now, the ambiguity of this reckless decision is putting fertility treatments at risk for people who are just trying to start a family.

The disregard for women’s ability to make these decisions for themselves and their families is outrageous and unacceptable.

Between this and Trump's 16-week abortion ban, it's clear we must hold the Senate majority and keep President Biden in the White House to uphold reproductive freedoms. Chip in $5, $10, or $15 to help Chris make that happen in November >> [link removed]
