Dear John,

On Friday, the Times reported that a majority of MPs believe women should not be prosecuted for so-called 'illegal abortions'.

We at BPAS agree, and we know you agree too.

Help us stop the criminalisation of women

Women caught up by the law are desperate, vulnerable, and need care and compassion. The last thing they need is to be threatened with up to life prison under a law dating back to 1861.

That's why we are working with Diana Johnson MP and MPs from six other parties to put a stop to this once and for all.

Diana's amendment to the Criminal Justice Bill would take women out of the criminal law around abortion - leaving everything else as it is. No change to time limits, no change to the reasons for an abortion, no change to two doctors needing to sign off.

It's a small change on paper - but it'll make a huge difference in practice.

Ask your MP to update abortion law today

We have won two huge votes on abortion in the last two years. Together, with your help, this can be the third

Please take two minutes today to help us, and to help these women.

Best wishes,

Rachael and the whole team at BPAS
