John,

Baseball is America's game. There's nothing that comes close to the feeling of coming home after a long day of work, cracking open a cold one, tuning in, and rooting for your team.

As a former pitcher, I'm always trying to spread my love of the game and show as many people as possible why I love this sport.

Unfortunately, there are numerous barriers that keep Iowans from enjoying America's pastime. Because of enormous media companies and Major League Baseball's monopoly, many Iowans are barred from watching their team even if they've already paid for an additional channel or for MLB's streaming service .

Six teams are subject to MLB blackout rules in Iowa: Chicago Cubs, Chicago White Sox, Kansas City Royals, Milwaukee Brewers, Minnesota Twins, and St. Louis Cardinals. That means our state could be prevented from watching up to 40% of all MLB games on a given night.

That's just wrong, and it's why I'm working on bipartisan legislation to put an end to the practice of blackouts in the future. Iowans should not be burdened with the hassle and extra costs of purchasing multiple services just to watch some baseball.

This legislation will go a long way towards ensuring that America's game remains accessible to all Americans.

Stand Tall For All,

J.D.
