Dear John,
Last week, we officially started the 2024 Minnesota Legislative session. As you may have heard, it's a short session that ends in May, so we’ll be working double time at the Capitol to ensure Boundary Waters protections are front and center.
I am writing to highlight two crucial bills that will safeguard the Boundary Waters from harmful sulfide-ore copper mining. These bills have the power to make a big difference, but maintaining momentum and educating our elected officials during this short session will be paramount to their success.
This means getting support for pro-Boundary Waters legislation from as many members as possible. Let’s just say I’m eating most of my lunches in the Capitol cafeteria these days - that’s how much time I’m spending advocating on behalf of protecting our precious Boundary Waters!
Here’s where I need your help: Right now, make a gift that funds our state-level legislative work. [[link removed]] We need all eyes on the Boundary Waters if we are going to protect this precious boreal Wilderness from risky and toxic sulfide-ore copper mining pollution.

Over the next few months, I’ll be devoting extensive time to meeting with elected officials at the State Capitol, advocating passionately for the protection of this pristine Wilderness. I have seen firsthand the incredible impact that your support can have on shaping legislation in past years - ensuring the long-term well-being of the Boundary Waters.
Your contribution [[link removed]] , no matter the size, will play a critical role in keeping the Boundary Waters safe from the devastating effects of sulfide-ore copper mining pollution. Together, we can ensure that this natural wonder remains a treasure for future generations.
