Update: Emergency response in Gaza

===================================

Dear John,

Thanks to the tireless work of our team and wonderful partnerships with groups like the World Central Kitchen, we have been able to serve fresh food to people in Gaza in recent weeks. At a time when very little humanitarian aid is reaching the population of Gaza, support from the AFSC community has been critical. Thank you to everyone has donated!

In addition to distributing meals, drinking water, and hygiene kits, our staff have been working with partners on recreational activities for children in schools, shelters, and tents. We have provided humanitarian relief to more than 191,752 people since October. And we have more trucks with medicine, food, and other supplies waiting at the border, poised to bring additional relief.

I also appreciate everyone who has joined us in urging a cease-fire and humanitarian access – your advocacy is needed now more than ever. To give you a first-hand context for why your support is so crucial, I’m sharing this recent interview with AFSC Program Officer Serena Awad [link removed] . Serena is from Gaza and part of our team distributing aid.

In peace,

Kerri Kennedy
Associate General Secretary for International Programs
