I was proud to stand next to President Biden in California today as he canceled an additional $1.2 billion of student debt for 153,000 borrowers.

This is incredible news and a major victory for working people.

I understand the relief so many are feeling today firsthand. My college tuition cost more than my dad made in an entire year. I know what it’s like to rely on loans, Pell grants, and work-study programs to be able to pursue a higher education.

I’m still outraged that a right-wing majority on the Supreme Court blocked President Biden’s initial effort to cancel student debt for tens of millions of Americans. But he did not give up. He doubled down on finding solutions — and so far has canceled debt for almost 4 million borrowers.

Student loans are weighing down tens of millions of Americans who simply want a fair shot to get ahead. Every student has a right to a good education without being crushed by debt. We deserve a level playing field that gives each and every child the chance to achieve their American Dream.

Our work is not over. Not even close, but we’re moving in the right direction thanks to the support and organizing work of people like you.

Thank you for being part of this. I’m honored to be in this fight with you. Let’s keep it up.
