Dear John

Earlier this week, our country was put into lockdown. The seriousness of this action is matched only by the importance of what it’s for - saving thousands of lives.

I know that the vast majority of Londoners are doing their bit and following the guidelines.  And many more are already going above and beyond by volunteering or helping others in need.

Make no mistake, this isn’t easy. Being apart from family and friends. Being stuck inside while the sun shines. Simply being told what we can and cannot do. Our freedom is precious and we should be forever grateful for it, when we come out the other side of this difficult period.

It’s wonderful to see, however, how many people are responding with resilience and creativity.  I’ve included some of the best lockdown activities that I’ve spotted this week in the round-up below.  I hope they help, in even a small way, to make your days a bit easier.

One amazing thing from this week that is particularly worth highlighting is the response to the NHS call for volunteers -  the fact that more than 400,000 people registered to help <[link removed]> in 24 hours is incredible. I’ve signed up and - if you are able - I’d encourage you to sign up too. <[link removed]>

Finally, don’t forget that tonight, thanks to the Clap For Our Carers campaign <[link removed]>, we can all come together to show our appreciation for those on the frontline fighting Coronavirus. Simply open a window, or step into your balcony or garden, and make some noise at 8pm!

Kind regards
